Canyons School District To Hire Social Media Specialist
Darren Draper the director of technology services at Canyons School District in Cottonwood Heights, UT has decided that the CSD needs to have at least one “social media specialist” along with the four media specialist. @DDraper believes that schools now need a social media expert especially to get peers up to speed and I agree.
I applaud Draper’s forward thinking for seeing the generational gap among his peers. Draper said for the those coming in it is less needed but for the rest it is.

“I was scolded today by one of the Media Specialists in my old district for having “too much technology” and “not enough library” in the description of the Media Technology Specialist positions that we opened today.
Yup.
That’s exactly what I was talking about when I worried about bringing aboard all of our current media coordinators. Sorry, but at this point, some librarians still don’t understand that:

Yet another reason for the new Canyons School District, it sounds like people from the old district are arguing the world is flat.
